COIRE GLAS SUPPORTS WOODLANDS TRUST WITH TIMBER DONATION

A heavy-duty donation from the Coire Glas team will provide valuable support to a Glengarry environmental trust.

More than 15 tons of timber has been donated to the Glengarry Community Woodlands development trust. It will be seasoned and treated by the trust before being made available as firewood to local residents.

The wood was a by-product of clearing which was required during work to build a new site access crossing at Whitebridge, off the A87.

Tom Cooper, Development Manager at Glengarry Community Woodland Trust, said: “This donation is very welcome. This is 100 per cent birch, which is a premium firewood product.

“Profits generated from its sale support the delivery of the Trust’s charitable objectives and directly support us to employ people to manage the community woodland.”

The Whitebridge crossing will allow the Coire Glas team to access the upper section of the hydro pumped storage project.

Malcolm Sproule, SSE Site supervisor, and Elaine Macdonald, of forestry consultants RTS, were on hand to oversee the timber delivery.
